AIM: Action in Muskogee Community Visioning Process

AIM: Action in Muskogee Community Visioning Process Action in Muskogee (AIM) is a project of the Muskogee City-County Port Authority.

Action in Muskogee (AIM) is a project of the Muskogee City-County Port Authority to develop a community inspired implementation plan with accountability to improve Muskogee. Through five public community visioning sessions, the insights, priorities and visions of more than 370 area residents were compiled into an Action in Muskogee (AIM) Plan to make this a more vibrant community in which to live,

work, learn and play. The AIM Plan identified eight initiatives to improve Muskogee:

• Educational Excellence
• Safe and Secure Community
• Strong Economy
• Community Pride
• Clean and Beautiful Community
• Great Place to Live and Visit
• Health and Wellness
• Community Infrastructure

We had a great tour of Cherokee Elementary today, led by principal Lori Jefferson. If you weren’t able to join us, you missed a treat. Lori is so enthusiastic and energetic, and she knows the name of ALL 252 students at Cherokee. She is intent on raising morale at this school, and her success is evident. The students were extremely well behaved in the halls and also in the classrooms, and their pride in the school is evident. We definitely need to work on raising Muskogee’s awareness of this program, which so often has been judged poorly due to factors beyond their control. I’ll forward a couple pictures Melony took this morning.

We had a short business meeting following our school tour. Melony has volunteered to set up our own page. Will keep you posted on this. Also, Melony urged us all to log in to twitter.com/muskogeepublicschools and like the site.

Make sure you see today’s Phoenix, and share on FB the story of Whittier’s archery team winning first place at the state competition. If you do not subscribe to the Phoenix, see my FB post and share it with your FB friends. We must do more to let Muskogee know how great our school system is.

See you March 22, at Whittier. We will go back to our regular after school time….I’ll let you know exactly what time when I check with the principal about end of day traffic. Thanks!
