Muskogee's Hyde Park in 1907 featured a swimming pool that was the largest in eastern United States. The New York Athletic club had the 2nd largest swimming pool at that time, 10 feet shorter. The Hyde Park pool was 30 x 100 feet. The pool was 30 feet at its deepest end. The pool was heated and lights lined the bottom of the pool.

Come out this Saturday to the library and hear local historian Jonita Mullins talk about Hyde Park at 11am.

Hyde Park in Muskogee during the early 1900's was an amazing attraction, not only for Muskogee for the entire United States. According to local news at the time there was essentially a virtual reality ride at Hyde Park. The "ride" consisted of a trolley car that could hold up to 80 people and would move in place to simulate travel and was surrounded by movie screens showing landscapes from popular international cities like Paris. An trolley conductor would narrate what was being seen for the visitors.

Come out and listen to local historian Jonita Mullins speak about the history of Hyde Park this Saturday (June 20) at 11am.
