This afternoon our students had the opportunity to participate in a Beep Baseball workshop game with the Lookouts! It was exciting to watch students step outside their comfort zones, learn new skills, and experience the thrill of adaptive sports.

Recreation and leisure are important components of the Expanded Core Curriculum for students with visual impairments, helping build confidence, teamwork, self-determination, and lifelong interests. Our students demonstrated perseverance, sportsmanship, and a willingness to try something new, and we couldn’t be prouder of them.

A huge thank you to the Lookouts for sharing their time, talents, and passion for Beep Baseball with our students. What a fun and inspiring afternoon!

The LAFF Olympics were a blast! Students raced through a series of fun and challenging obstacles, including riding a tricycle, balancing a book on their head, popping a balloon, eating baby food, and walking in swim fins. There was plenty of laughter, friendly competition, and great sportsmanship throughout the event. The best part? It was Mr. Butler’s birthday, and he celebrated by winning his heat! Congratulations to all of our athletes for giving it their all and making the day so much fun!

The OSB Next Great Chef Challenge was a delicious success! Students were challenged to create a potluck-worthy dish while staying within a $10 budget, putting their planning, budgeting, and cooking skills to the test. The menu featured an impressive variety of dishes, including homemade mac & cheese, sloppy joe casserole, chicken salad, mini pot pies, low-carb cheesecakes, and many other creative recipes. Throughout the challenge, students practiced important Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) skills such as independent living, problem-solving, self-determination, and teamwork. Everyone enjoyed sharing their creations and sampling the hard work of their peers. We are incredibly proud of our young chefs for their creativity, resourcefulness, and enthusiasm!

What an amazing day of adventure and learning during our Orientation & Mobility Amazing Race Challenge! 🌟

Today, students put their travel, problem-solving, and teamwork skills to the test as they explored our community and school in a whole new way. We had the opportunity to visit Mr. Doug, who shared how the creek behind our school is connected to a much larger system that eventually empties into the ocean! 🌊

Along the way, students discovered local landmarks with ties to Muskogee’s rich history and stopped by a favorite local coffee shop to experience a community destination many residents enjoy. ☕️

The challenge continued back at school, where students followed a Braille clue trail throughout the building, working together to solve puzzles, navigate independently, and think critically as a team.

In addition to today’s adventure, students have been hard at work on their Micro Business Shark Challenge. Through this project, they are designing products, developing business plans, and exploring many of the Expanded Core Curriculum areas, including self-determination, social interaction, independent living, career education, assistive technology, and more.

We are so proud of the creativity, collaboration, and perseverance our students have demonstrated. Stay tuned—photos of their micro businesses will be coming soon! 🦈💡🎉
