This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Michael, one of our dedicated medics who has been part of the MCEMS family for 5 years!

Meet Michael!

Here are a few fun facts about him:

When asked what keeps him coming back to MCEMS, Michael said it’s the unknown and not knowing what each day will bring. That unpredictability is one of the things that makes EMS so unique—and keeps him ready for whatever the next call may be.

And his advice to the MCEMS community?

“Don’t sweat the small stuff.”

Happy National Beard Day!

In EMS, we know a good beard can be just as essential as a radio, trauma shears, and a fully stocked rig.

Today, we want to celebrate the bearded heroes who answer the call, work the long shifts, survive on questionable amounts of caffeine, and somehow still keep that beard looking good!

City of Muskogee Announces Selection of Chad Farmer as Police Chief.

MUSKOGEE, Okla. August 31, 2026 - City Manager Kendal Francis has selected Chad Farmer to serve as the next Chief of Police for the City of Muskogee following a comprehensive interview and selection process.

Farmer joined the Muskogee Police Department in January 1995 and has advanced through every rank within the department, currently serving as Deputy Chief of Police. Throughout his career, he has held leadership responsibilities in patrol, internal affairs, training, budgeting, policy development and special operations.

“Chad brings extensive experience, a deep understanding of the Muskogee Police Department and our community, and a strong commitment to the officers and residents he serves,” Francis said. “Throughout the selection process, he demonstrated that he understands both the opportunities and challenges ahead and has a clear vision for the future of the department. I am confident in his ability to strengthen community trust, develop the department’s next generation of leaders, and continue providing the professional, accountable law enforcement services our community deserves.”

The summer heat is no joke, but our Muskogee County EMS medics continue to show up, suit up, and answer the call every single day.

While temperatures climb and the heat takes its toll, our crews are out there working hard to take care of the people of Muskogee County. From emergency calls to long transports, they never know what the next call will bring — but they’re always ready to help.

They work in the heat.
They work long hours.
They miss meals and family time.
They face challenging situations.
And through it all, they continue to serve.

So today, we want to shine the spotlight on the men and women of MCEMS who put others first and continue to provide compassionate care, even on the hottest days of summer.

To our medics and crews: THANK YOU! Your dedication, professionalism, and willingness to serve our community do not go unnoticed.

And to the people of Muskogee County — when you see an MCEMS crew out working in this heat, give them a wave, a smile, or a simple “Thank you!” It means more than you know.

Now Taking Applications For the Paramedic Level!! Muskogee County EMS medics hired after November 1st, 2024 now are enrolled in a 20 year, hazardous duty, OPERS retirement!

Muskogee County EMS, a public EMS agency, is currently seeking to hire one or more Paramedics. We are considering paramedic applicants for both 24 hour and 12 hour shift rotations. The 12 hour shift rotations are 4 shifts one week (not in a row), and 3 shifts the next, giving a 3 day weekend every other weekend. Depending on applicable experience, Paramedics start from $61K/yr ($28.35/hr) to $74K/yr ($32.29/hr). The 24 hour schedules are a rotating 24hr on / 48hr off. Depending on applicable experience, these pay from $88k/yr ($26.50/hr) to $93k/yr ($27.83/hr)

Our patient care staff enjoys the benefits of modern and well maintained ambulances and patient care equipment geared toward employee satisfaction and high quality patient care.
