Summer EBT is here! Students in the Cherokee Nation Reservation who meet eligibility may qualify for Summer EBT.

Eligibility for the program is based on free or reduced school meals and FDPIR data list. Households on a direct certification list from these sources will automatically be issued an SEBT card. If your student attends a participating school, you do not need to apply, as they will automatically be enrolled in the program. Households can choose to OPT-OUT by contacting the Summer EBT office. Please contact the Summer EBT team for a list of participating schools.

Find the online application here https://cherokee.oksebt.org/apply

For questions, please email [email protected] or call SEBT at 800-256-0671 ext. 5589 and select Summer EBT or 918-453-5720.

At-large Cherokee citizens should visit https://www.fns.usda.gov/summer/sunbucks to find out if Summer EBT is administered by a state or tribal government in their community.

Indian Education Committee Meeting

Today is Cherokee Nation Remembrance Day.

187 years ago today, one of the final groups of Cherokees arrived in Indian Territory after being forcibly removed from our homelands and enduring a perilous journey across the Trail of Tears.

The Hildebrand detachment arrived on March 24, 1839, in Indian Territory, near present-day Westville, while the Taylor detachment arrived on March 30, 1839. These were the final two detachments out of 17 groups that undertook the 1,000-mile relocation, concluding one of the darkest chapters in our history.

Today, and every day, we remember and honor all of our ancestors who survived, as well as those who perished.
