🚨 ATTENTION 🚨 Muskegon County Emergency Manager announces that the Michigan Task Force One (MI-TF1) Swift Water Rescue Team is conducting safety checks following recent flooding. These checks are carried out by highly trained personnel specializing in swift water and urban search-and-rescue operations.

Safety checks began on Monday, April 20, 2026, at approximately 11:45 AM in Cedar Creek Township and will continue into Egelston Township. The Michigan Task Force 1 Action Area Map shows the general location where the Michigan Task Force One (MI-TF1) Swift Water Rescue Team will be operating on Monday, April 20, 2026.

If you see emergency responders and boats operating in the area, please do not be alarmed. These are trained professionals working to ensure community safety.

“The Swift Water Rescue Team is actively surveying the river for potential hazards, including propane tanks, debris, and other hazardous materials that could be floating downstream,” said Renee Gavin, Muskegon County Emergency Manager. “These checks are being carried out by MI-TF1, short for Michigan Task Force One, which is Michigan’s urban search and rescue team. MI-TF1 is available to respond to local, state, or federal natural or man-made disasters, including structural collapse, flood or swift water rescue, or wide area search and rescue.”

We appreciate your awareness and cooperation.
