Emergency Alert Issued Out of Abundance of Caution; Campus and Community

MUSKEGON, MI – Muskegon County and officials have completed their assessment of a reported threat that prompted an emergency notification and temporary disruption of activities on campus today. Following an investigation, authorities have found no evidence of an active threat to the campus or the surrounding community.

The emergency notification was issued out of an abundance of caution after information was received about a potential threat. At this time, officials have confirmed that there is no active threat. All students, faculty, staff, visitors, and the surrounding neighborhoods are safe. The alert has been lifted, and normal operations have resumed.

"The safety of the students, employees, visitors, and community members remains our highest priority," said Mark Eisenbarth, Muskegon County Administrator. "We recognize that emergency alerts can create uncertainty and concern, and we appreciate the patience and cooperation shown by everyone as officials worked diligently to evaluate the information and ensure public safety."
Officials understand that notifications involving potential threats can be alarming. While the information ultimately did not indicate an ongoing threat, the response reflected the commitment of all involved to act quickly and responsibly whenever a potential safety concern is reported.

Current Status:
• There is no active threat to Baker College Muskegon or the Muskegon County Marquette Campus.
• All students, faculty, staff, and visitors are safe.
