Senior Resources of West Michigan

Senior Resources of West Michigan Senior Resources has served West Michigan for over 50 years. As an Area Agency on Aging, we serve as a hub for information on options for long term care.

We work to help people age in place with dignity and independence. Senior Resources, an area agency on aging, assesses community needs, develops and implements a regional plan for service delivery, serves as a focal point for information, provides care coordination, arranges for in-home care services, counsels on Medicare/Medicaid benefits and serves as an advocacy agency for older adults and the disabled. Senior Resources is a designated agent for the MI Choice Waiver program.

We were so grateful to welcome Jaccie Smith, Senior Care Services Director from the Oceana County Council on Aging to Senior Resources for a recent Dementia Friends presentation for participants, caregivers, family members, and community partners attending our Mi Choice Masters Consumer Quality Collaborative gathering.

Jaccie shared valuable insight on how dementia impacts individuals and families—and, more importantly, how each of us can take simple, meaningful actions to better support those living with dementia.

Thank you, Jaccie, for partnering with us and helping grow a more dementia-friendly community.

Interested in becoming a Dementia Friend?
Both Kim Wilcox and Jaccie Smith are trained Dementia Friends Champions and would be happy to schedule a session for your group or organization.

Taking care of your mental health is just as important as your physical health—especially as we age.

Senior Resources is a proud partner of Empower@Home, funded through the University of Michigan. This free program pairs participants with a trained coach and offers simple, guided lessons designed to help improve mood and quality of life.

As Older Americans Month begins to come to a close, one thing remains clear—our advocacy doesn’t stop here.

Every day, we continue working to ensure older adults in our communities have access to the care and support they need to live safely and independently at home.

Programs like MI Choice show what’s possible: care that preserves independence, supports caregivers, strengthens communities—and does so at a lower cost. It’s a better way forward, and it’s one worth speaking up for.

In observance of Memorial Day, Senior Resources will be closed on Monday, May 25th, 2026.

As we honor those who gave their lives in service to our country, we pause to remember the sacrifices made by so many—sacrifices that continue to shape the lives of veterans, families, and communities today.

We are especially mindful of the older adults in our region whose stories, service, and experiences are part of this legacy.

We will reopen May 26th at 8:00 am and look forward to serving you.
