Severe Weather Potential
This Evening into Early Tuesday Morning
• Scattered thunderstorms may develop after 6pm posing mainly a damaging wind and large hail risk
• A line of thunderstorms likely moves through after midnight posing an additional damaging wind risk
• Localized swaths of 1"-3" of rain over a short time, with urban and poor drainage flooding possible
Tuesday Evening into Tuesday Night
• All severe weather hazards are possible, including tornadoes
• There is potential for this to be a significant severe weather event for central and southern Lower MI
• Depending on the intensity of thunderstorm development, numerous power outages will be possible
• Heavy rainfall and flash flooding of streets and creeks/streams are concerns
• Flooding in urban areas is possible, especially in the Grand Rapids to Lansing (I-96) corridor
Wednesday
• Additional severe thunderstorms are possible along with heavy rainfall
River Flooding
• The Muskegon River is expected to flood this week with moderate to major flooding now forecast
• The Grand River will see water levels again start to rise and may exceed flood stage at a few locations by late in the week
• Additional rain amounts through the week will likely worsen current river forecasts

Severe Storms and Flooding Possible this Week:
• As we progress through the week, several rounds of rain on already saturated soils will bring increased chances for flooding
• A Flood Watch has been issued for Mason, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Oceana, Newaygo, and Mecosta counties
• The Flood Watch could be extended south
• Monday evening and overnight: first round of severe thunderstorms is possible with large hail and damaging winds
• Tuesday night: second window for severe storms with damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes possible
• The rest of the week will remain active with both flooding and severe storms possible
• Keep up to date with the forecast and future updates

Lake Effect Snow and Cold Temperatures this Weekend
• Snow begins across West Michigan after 5 PM Friday
• Heaviest snowfall will be west of US 131
• Heaviest Snow will fall tonight into early Saturday morning
• Lake effect snow will linger along the lakeshore through Saturday into Sunday
• 1 to 3 inches expected with locally higher amounts possible, mainly along the lakeshore
• Slick and hazardous road conditions and reduced visibilities will be likely at times.
• Arctic temperatures expected with lows in the single digits to zero possible Sunday and Monday mornings.
• Wind chills below zero possible Saturday evening into Sunday morning.

🚨 Potential Elimination of Healthcare Coalitions Threatens Michigan’s Emergency Preparedness

The Michigan Region 6 Healthcare Coalition (MI Region 6 HCC) — serving 13 counties and 2 tribes in West Michigan — may face closure due to anticipated federal budget cuts.

“Without sustained funding, we will lose the ability to coordinate emergency response across hospitals, EMS, public health, and emergency management,” said Luke Aurner, Regional Coordinator.

- Temperatures of 90+ degrees expected for Saturday through Tuesday
- Humid conditions combined with hot temperatures will produce heat indices 100+ Sat and Sun
- Limited relief from heat at night for vulnerable populations without air conditioning
- Advisories possible for Monday and Tuesday also, but heat indices may stay below 100F

Small chance for strong to severe storm tonight
- Best chance after midnight tonight through daybreak
- Main threat is large hail to quarter sized, and locally heavy downpours
