The Water Dept will be flushing hydrants in the center of the city beginning Monday, Sept 7. Staff will be focusing on the area between Wood St and Seaway Dr (east-west) and Keating Ave to the north city limits. This will take a few weeks.

This is a routine annual procedure to ensure every hydrant is tested at least once every three years. If you see rusty-colored water in your home, just run your faucets for about 5 minutes to clear out any debris.

For any questions or concerns, contact the Department of Public Works at 231-724-4100.

What do you want to see for the future of the City of Muskegon?

We are creating a 2027–2030 Strategic Community Plan, and we need community input to build it! City Commissioners, staff, and neighborhood leaders have been working together, but the most important voice in this process is yours.

Here is how you can participate:
1️⃣ Take our online community survey and share your feedback on the draft plan: mkgcity.com/strategicplansurvey
2️⃣ Attend an upcoming focus group on Sept 28, 29, or 30 (registration preferred)
3️⃣ Sign up for project updates to stay in the loop

Your feedback directly informs our city roadmap before it goes to the City Commission later this year for adoption..

Explore & Relax: Visit Kruse Park trails, Pere Marquette Beach, or enjoy the shoreline.

The route connects Jackson Hill through Downtown, Lakeside, and along the lakefront. Park near any designated stop, step on board, and ride for free.

Arms full of fresh produce, locally raised meats and dairy, colorful flowers, plants, bakery treats, honey, and salsa... there's nothing quite like walking through the Muskegon Farmers Market on a Saturday morning. 📸🌾

Then you add in everything else that makes our market so special: a lawn chair by the stage with live music, grabbing lunch from a rotating vendor, and meeting up with friends at the annual food truck rallies. It’s what makes the MFM one of the most popular Downtown Muskegon locations.

The Muskegon Farmers Market is currently competing in the nationwide 2026 America’s Farmers Market Celebration hosted by the American Farmland Trust. Winning this title comes with prize funding that goes right back into supporting our local farmers, expanding market programs, and keeping this space vibrant and accessible to everyone.
