"From equations and essays to homemade products and local goods!

Over the last few weeks, our English and Math classes have been pooling their talents to pull off something truly amazing: a completely student-led Farmers Market!

Our Math students have been crunching the numbers, managing budgets, and figuring out profit margins, while our English students have been nailing the branding, writing persuasive pitches, and creating all the signage. Talk about real-world learning in action! We are so incredibly proud of their hard work, collaboration, and dedication to bringing this project to life. Now, they just need YOU to help make it a success!

When/where: MAY 21ST AT MUSKEGON MARKET & MERCENTILE: 11:30-2:00
MAY 28TH AT OV ILC GRADUATION: 5:00-7:00
JUNE 2ND AT MUSKEGON FARMERS MARKET: 11:30-1:30"

Yesterday, Mr. Loss and his World History A class had the opportunity to experience a special presentation on the arms and armor of Spanish Conquistadors and Aztec warriors.

While this was designed as part of our World History learning, we opened the experience up to all ILC students so more of them could connect with the history in a hands-on, visual way.

A huge thank you to the Swordsmanship Museum and Academy in Grand Rapids, especially Jerry Berg and Natalie Budnick, for sharing their knowledge, artifacts, demonstrations, and expertise with our students.

This presentation helped students move beyond just reading about conquest and colonialism. They were able to see how weapons, armor, technology, and strategy shaped encounters between different peoples — and how those encounters changed history.

It was a great way to bring history to life and help students ask bigger questions about power, culture, conflict, and human interaction.
