Another Futures Fund Highlight to Share ~ The Pioneer Pantry!

Through our Futures Fund, staff have the opportunity to bring forward projects that strengthen our community and expand the ways we support one another.

The Pioneer Pantry initiative aims to create an on-site food pantry that provides accessible support for participants, families, and employees who may be experiencing food insecurity. Designed with dignity and ease of access in mind, the pantry would remove common barriers while offering a sense of stability and support when it’s needed most.

Even more, the project thoughtfully incorporates Skill Building opportunities, giving participants hands-on experience in organizing, stocking, and managing pantry operations—building real-world skills while giving back to their community.

This is exactly what the Futures Fund is all about—ideas that bring people together, strengthen independence, and create meaningful impact.

We’re so proud of the thoughtful, innovative ideas our staff bring forward—and excited to see how they take shape!

We love seeing big ideas come to life! Through our Futures Fund, staff have the opportunity to pitch projects that strengthen our programs and expand what’s possible. This Electronic Point-of-Sale (EPOS) project is a great example!

Our current EPOS system allows our vocational training participants to build confidence through hands-on practice and workplace experience. With one EPOS system currently in place and delivering strong results, this new investment will add a second system to our Grand Haven site—expanding access and removing time lost to sharing this resource between two locations.

With proven success and a plan to grow capacity by adding a second system, this idea reflects exactly what the Futures Fund is all about—innovation, impact, and empowering staff.

We’re proud of the creativity and leadership our staff bring forward every day—and even more excited to help turn those ideas into action!

Who says goals can’t be delicious? Independence in the kitchen is a frequent goal of our residents and practice brings progress! Stromboli, French toast, and banana split pie to name a few. And if a few crumbs get dropped along the way, Scooter is there to lend a helping hand! Well.. paw 🐾

Meet Stacy, our Chief Clinical Officer, who's been bringing warmth, heart, and expertise to Pioneer Resources for the past 9 years.

When she’s off the clock, Stacy and her husband Tim make the most of Michigan summers at their seasonal campsite in Hesperia— boating, kayaking, live music, and plenty of laughs with friends. Come winter, they enjoy traveling to Florida to soak up some sunshine.

Stacy's biggest joy is her family; she's is a proud mom to Brayden (23), Devin (33), and daughter-in-law Destiny—and they truly are her world. And we can't forget her little pup, Ness, who lives his best life at the campground, running and playing with his doggo buddies. Ness also loves stopping by the office where he's a fan favorite of all the office staff. 🐾

We’re so grateful for Stacy’s leadership and experience - and the sunshine she brings wherever she goes! ☀️

Meet Terry, a member of our board since January 2024. Terry currently serves as Director of the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, the central coordinating agency supporting Michigan’s 486,000 veterans and their families. His career reflects a lifelong commitment to service—from 25 years as a police officer and firefighter in the Muskegon Heights area, to serving three terms as a State Representative and two terms as a Muskegon County Commissioner. A proud U.S. Air Force veteran, Terry considers his military service his greatest honor.

Terry and his wife, Denise, have four children and ten grandchildren. Together, they value time with family and share a deep commitment to serving their community.

In his words, “I’m proud to be affiliated with the amazing and passionate group of individuals at Pioneer Resources. The organization clearly thinks about service to others over self.” Thank you, Terry, for your leadership, expertise, and passion to serve others!
