🚧 Scheduled Road Work: Week of September 7

Residents can expect to see shoulder patching, brush hogging, culvert replacements, and other maintenance taking place throughout the county.

🚧 Road Closure: Durham Road

A contractor will begin shoulder widening work on Durham Road starting Wednesday, September 9.

Durham Road will be closed to through traffic during the work. A signed detour will be in place using Benston Road and Whitehall Road.

Please plan ahead and use the posted detour while the work is underway.

🚧 Road Closure: Walsh Road

Walsh Road will be closed beginning Tuesday, September 8, and is expected to remain closed through November.

The closure is needed while MDOT performs bridge deck repairs on US-31.

A detour will be in place using W. Fruitvale Road and Business 31. Please plan ahead and use the posted detour while the work is taking place.

There’s a lot that happens before the asphalt arrives!

Yesterday, MCRC crews were preparing Huether Subdivision in Laketon Township for upcoming paving. The motor grader is being used to shape and fine-tune the road surface, while the crew checks the grade to make sure everything is properly prepared.

Grading helps create a smooth foundation and profile for the new pavement, including making sure the road is shaped to drain water properly.

The Muskegon County Road Commission will be closed Friday, September 4 and Monday, September 7 for Labor Day.

Normal office hours will resume Tuesday, September 8.

UPDATE: Paving is scheduled for tomorrow, September 3, on Cress Creek off Sheridan Road.

The work was postponed earlier this week due to weather, but crews are planning to return tomorrow, weather permitting.

🚧 Road Work Alert: Paving on Tranquil Trail and Cress Creek

Paving will continue on Tranquil Trail in Whitehall to finish the work that began earlier this week.

Crews will also be paving Cress Creek off Sheridan Road.

Please use caution around the work zones, watch for workers and equipment, and expect possible delays while paving operations are underway.

🚧 Road Closure: Moorland Road

Moorland Road between Sherman Road and Price Road in Ravenna Township is closed today and tonight for a culvert replacement.

Crews expect to complete the work tomorrow, with the road reopening once the project is finished.

Please use an alternate route and give crews room to work.

MCRC crews are scheduled to pave the Huether Subdivision in Laketon Township on Wednesday, September 9, weather permitting.

Work will include Huether Avenue, Cowles Street, Chelmsford Drive and Amy Street.

⭐️ Employee Spotlight: Tim Hilton, Heavy Equipment Operator

Tim Hilton has been with MCRC for 10 years and works out of our Muskegon garage as a Heavy Equipment Operator.

Tim is someone you can trust to get the job done correctly. He does a great job running heavy equipment and has become an exceptional grader operator. When he’s assigned to a job with a crew, he helps keep things moving and makes sure the work gets done.

He’s also always willing to take on whatever job is asked of him and put in the extra effort when needed.

We appreciate all the hard work Tim puts in for MCRC. Thanks, Tim! 👏
