The Iowa Beef Center with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host a Technology Field Day at the McNay Memorial Research Farm on Sept. 29, showcasing a handful of technologies being used in various research and demonstration studies.

The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Food Systems Team is accepting registrations for Virtual Local Food Leader 101, an online course designed to help participants develop knowledge, skills and connections for effective contribution to community food systems initiatives.
The course will run from Sept. 30 to Dec. 16 and combines self-paced, online learning with five virtual learning circles that provide opportunities for discussion, reflection and peer connection.

This year 299 Iowa youth put their livestock knowledge, teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test during the Iowa State Fair Livestock Skillathons. One hundred youth teams participated in the 2026 swine, sheep, beef and goat skillathons, representing 57 counties from across the state. Participants worked through hands-on stations designed to challenge their knowledge of animal agriculture while building skills they can apply to future projects and careers.
