In response to the 2nd St evacuations in Muscatine, The American Red Cross in partnership with the Salvation Army and Muscatine County Emergency Management has opened a reception center to support those affected at:

Salvation Army
1000 Oregon St
Muscatine, IA 52761

Reception Center services include:
• A safe place to stay
• Meals and snacks
• Charging stations for electronics
• Access to information and recovery resources

If you or someone you know has been impacted, please come to the reception center for support.

🚨 Downtown Safety Update – East 2nd Street 🚨

The City of Muscatine has ordered the evacuation of all buildings on the north side of the 200 block of East 2nd Street following structural concerns identified during recent inspections.

These precautions are part of ongoing efforts to safely proceed with demolition work at 201 and 203 E. 2nd Street. East 2nd Street, including the Sycamore Street intersection, remains closed to the public.

🚧 Access is restricted to authorized personnel
⚠️ Please avoid the area and respect all closures

Muscatine Fire Department crews responded to a bedroom fire at 39 Gas Lantern Square on June 18. Light smoke was showing on arrival, and all occupants had safely evacuated. Firefighters brought the fire under control within minutes. No injuries were reported, and damage is estimated at $1,000. The cause remains under investigation.
