As summer approaches, we’re seeing more kids and teens riding e-bikes and electric motorcycles throughout our community. With Utah’s updated laws that took effect on May 6, 2026, we want to help keep everyone safe by making sure parents and riders understand the new requirements and laws.

These changes were created to improve safety, reduce serious crashes, and help riders of all ages responsibly enjoy Utah’s roads and trails. We encourage parents to take a few minutes to review the new rules with their children, especially regarding age restrictions, supervision requirements, registration, and where certain devices can legally be operated.

We are thrilled to welcome four new officers to the Murray City PD family!

This wasn't an ordinary swearing-in ceremony as Chief Burnett noted during the presentation that he cannot remember a time in the department’s history when we had the unique opportunity to swear in four officers all at once.

Please join us in welcoming Officer(s) Ronquillo, James, Wittmaak and Valladares as they begin their journey serving the citizens of Murray. Each brings a unique background and a shared commitment to integrity, courage and service.

🎓 Impressive News for the Department! 🎓

Shout out to Sergeant Malouf on his recent graduation! He has officially earned a Master’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, showcasing an incredible level of dedication to both his professional development and personal growth.

It was a fun coincidence that Chief Burnett was also in attendance at Southern Utah University, celebrating a family member’s graduation. He was honored to witness one of MCPD's own cross the stage and represent the department so well.

Please join us in congratulating Sergeant Malouf’s hard work and this impressive milestone!

To our incredible dispatchers at the Salt Lake Valley Communications Center (VECC):
