Supporting a strong and influential middle class as a city council member—through the lens of Aristotle’s Golden Mean—means fostering balance between excess and deficiency in governance, economics, and civic life.

The Greek Philosopher Aristotle believed that virtue and societal stability lie in the middle, not in extremes of wealth, power, or poverty.

To convey my focus on Civic Leadership Grounded in the Golden Mean, this first blog post is on Promoting Balanced Housing Policy.

• Golden Mean Principle: Avoid excess (luxury housing only) or deficiency (inadequate affordable options).

• Action: Support zoning that allows for diverse housing options—starter homes, duplexes, senior living, and workforce housing—ensuring the middle class can live where they work.

Field Trip! 👨‍🏫🗳️I met Salt Lake County Elections Clerk Lannie Chapman and her intrepid crew of election superheroes at the Public Logic and Accuracy Demonstration for the 2025 Municipal Primary Election today! 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️🦸Thank you

I personally witnessed and tested the process our County follows to ensure our elections are secure and trusted…with a dummy ballot and voted for myself! 😉

That said, there were a couple critics claiming expertise in cyber sabotage. However, Clerk Lannie was very open and willing to go over VSTL audit results with anyone who wants to stop by.

It was an honor to be asked by Pam Cotter to open tonight’s city council meeting at City Hall by leading the pledge of allegiance. 🇺🇸

Then, off to an Exchange Club of Murray backyard pot luck BBQ where I made new friends and bagged flags that we’ll hand out at the Murray Fun Days parade this Friday morning.
