There are many folks wishing me the best of luck tonight. I'm sincerely grateful for their support; however, this message has always struck me as a bit off. Running for Murray City Council was never about me. It was always about YOU, my friends and neighbors. Tonight is the culmination of a lot of hard work and I wish YOU the best of luck. I wish Murray and the folks I care about the best of luck! Municipal elections truly matter the most.

Politicians should wear Nascar suits so you know who they're beholden to!

• 11/19 (58%) of my donors live WITHIN our district.
• My largest donor is myself.
• Only 1 of my donors is not a neighbor, family member, or close personal friend.

I am beholden to you (the residents within our district) and no one else. If you want money and outside influences out of politics, here is your chance. This why you should vote

My campaign finance statement will be submitted for public record Monday. This is a preview.

The ballots are out! I am proud that I ran an honest, transparent, and efficient campaign. A vote for me is a vote to unite our community and listen to everyone's voice. Democrats and Republicans both proudly display my yard signs because they know my intentions are to serve this district and not outside influences. City Council is designed to be non-partisan. The majority of my donors live WITHIN my district. I am beholden to you and no one else. Vote Adam for a peaceful and prosperous Murray!

Thank you to the truly great people and now good friends I have met along the way. Murray pride!

Once again, my wife and I have knocked every door in our district. If we didn't get to speak in person, please call or message me if you have any questions. Thank you for your support.

Policy matters! My plan for local businesses:

I propose eliminating fees for licensing and permitting for our local businesses to better compete in the new economy. I want to change the perception of Murray and brand us as the most business friendly city along the Wasatch front. Let me explain how this will help diversify our tax base, help our local businesses, and protect you the property tax payer.

Approximately 1/3 of Murray property is tax exempt! When economic downturns occur, a recent trend throughout the country is not to cut services, but to raise taxes instead. I want to prevent your property taxes from being raised again by attracting a diversified business tax base.

Note: 45% of city revenue is from sales tax and nearly half of that is from auto sales. 19% is from property taxes.

These fees are a very small portion of the budget and oftentimes the cost to collect is nearly the cost of the fee itself. When speaking with the mayor, this idea seemed to resonate.

Policy matters! My plan for downtown Murray:

Step 1: bridge the communication gap between residents and developers.

Because the city owns most of the land, that means you the taxpayer own the land and must have influence in the decision. I propose a community survey to get quantifiable data from the residents. There is precedent. The city recently received ~1600 respondents when surveying for the pool and park. This can be achieved within 30 days.

Step 2: have developers compete for what you want.

Use the quantifiable data obtained from the survey to send out a request for proposal (RFP) to multiple developers. This will force creativity to fit what you want into their financial models. The cost of labor and lumber is expensive right now. Multiple developers competing for what you want will drive down price and drive up quality.

Step 3: actually move forward and vote on a project.

The quantifiable data from the survey will give no excuse to delay voting. The city will have clarity on what the taxpaying residents want. When a developer meets your criteria, the project must move forward.

Downtown is critically important, not only because of the historic resonance within our community, but also for our economic viability. The yield curve recently inverted. If we don't act quickly, downtown will be blighted for another decade.

I hold a Master of Real Estate Development and a Graduate Certificate in Urban Planning from the University of Utah. Please comment with suggestions.

Policy Matters! This video discusses High-Density Development in downtown Murray at Meet the Candidates Night on Thursday, October 3rd, 2019.

Some context: downtown Murray has contaminated soils, mainly single-family residential neighborhoods directly across the street, and many buildings registered as historic. Making things more complicated, Murray City owns much of "block 1" between 4800 S and 5th Street and is planning on building the new city hall and fire station one block west. It's also all in an RDA zone.
