The Emergency Management Agency (EMA) exists to implement mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery programs for Jackson County. During periods of non-emergency, the EMA works in the area of emergency mitigation and preparedness. Functions include:
- Identification of hazards and their potential impact on Jackson County, as well as steps taken to lessen the impact, including education and awareness.
- Emergency plan development and testing.

Summer heat and thunderstorm chances will be the main impacts this week. Some thunderstorms will be capable of producing locally heavy rain at time, while temperatures combine with moisture to produce high heat index values Tuesday and Wednesday.

Humid conditions can be expected this week. Tuesday through Thursday will be the most uncomfortable time period, with highs mostly in the lower 90s, and afternoon heat indices of 98 to 103 degrees.

Precipitation chances will increase tonight, with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms Monday into Monday night. A few storms could become strong to severe, and rain will be heavy at times. Rain chances will slowly end from west to east Tuesday into Wednesday.

🔹Showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast today especially for our far western counties.

🔹More numerous storms expected Monday into Tuesday and this is where we really start seeing dew points climb into the 70s. Not going to feel too nice!

🔹Low 90s are in the forecast for the middle of the workweek and this will likely be the first time Paducah sees a 90 degree reading this year. Heat indices will likely be close to 100 between Wednesday and Saturday.
