March 2, 2026 - March 6, 2026 is Severe Weather awarness week in Illinois. Do you have multiple ways to get severe weather warnings? You should make sure you have multiple ways to get alerted to severe weather. NOAA weather radio, broadcast television/radio and cell phone apps are all good methods to utilize. The City of Murphysboro will test it's outdoor warning sirens today (March 3rd) at 10:00 am as part of the state wide tornado drill. This would be a good time to review with family and co-workers what you would do in the event of severe weather. Remember outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert those who are outside and are not necessiarly designed to be heard inside of a home or building.
