25 Years Later. We Still Remember.
On September 11, 2001, our nation witnessed unimaginable tragedy, extraordinary courage, and selfless service.
Twenty-five years later, we remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost that day and honor the first responders who ran toward danger while others were trying to escape.

•8 EMS personnel
•23 NYPD Officers
•37 Port Authority Police Officers
They answered the call knowing the risks. They climbed the stairs. They entered the smoke. They treated the injured. They helped strangers find their way to safety. Many never made it home.
We also remember the countless firefighters, EMS providers, law enforcement officers, rescue workers, and others who have suffered or lost their lives in the years since from illnesses related to their work at Ground Zero. The FDNY alone has now lost hundreds more members to World Trade Center-related illnesses.
For those of us who serve today, their courage remains a reminder of what it means to answer when someone needs help.
25 years later, we remember their names. We remember their sacrifice. We remember September 11, 2001.
