Today we’re celebrating a very special employee’s one-year work anniversary... Ed the Zebra!

As if that wasn’t enough excitement, we’re also welcoming FOUR new summer interns to the CUD family!

We can’t wait to see all the great things they’ll learn, accomplish, and hopefully help explain why there’s a zebra hanging around the utility.

Happy 1-Year Work Anniversary, Ed, and welcome to our summer interns!

In this day and age, serving one workplace for over 20 years is a sign of true longevity.

Last week, we bid a fond farewell and happy retirement to one of our own, David Berry, after 23 years with CUD.

David worked in Distribution, making sure infrastructure operates as it should to provide water to homes and businesses throughout the county. In addition to his work ethic, there was something else distinctive about him.

His voice. If you’ve ever seen the movie Tombstone – and you’re familiar with the actor Sam Elliott – then you’ve heard David speak. His baritone is straight-up cowboy.

Now he rides into the sunset having given a large part of his professional life to our customers in Rutherford County. Happy retirement, David, and here’s to your next chapter!

Whether we’re maintaining infrastructure, serving customers, or working behind the scenes, every safe choice helps protect our employees, our community, and each other.

This month, we’re focusing on:

✅ Staying aware and alert

✅ Following established procedures

✅ Looking out for coworkers and the public

✅ Reporting hazards and unsafe conditions

A strong safety culture starts with every team member, every day. Together, we can create a safer workplace and continue delivering reliable water services to the communities we serve.

For the month of May, we want to highlight our talented and hardworking Lab Manager, Derek Bumpus!

Derek has been working for CUD since 2022! He has been an incredibly important part of our daily function as a water utility.

Derek, thank you for all that you do for CUD and our customers! We are grateful to have you be a part of our team.

We're re-posting because ... well, they're at it again.

Our friend and yours, Wally Water, hopped off the school bus with his report card – and he’s super happy! Just like last year, the water supply has no violations.

That’s like all A’s.

Our water treatment plant works every day to make that happen, and we’re accountable to our customers, the state, and the federal government. You’ll find our latest report in the Water Quality section at cudrc.com, and we’re proud to show you our report card.

Drink up, Rutherford County! Your water is clean and pristine.
