💛 $100 FOR TENNESSEE FIRST RESPONDERS FOUNDATION! 💛

Remember our EMS: Eating Meat Specialist team taking on the Texas Roadhouse Rib Eating Contest?! Well, we’ve got a pretty great follow-up!

Texas Roadhouse originally planned to donate only to the charity selected by the winning team. But they graciously went above and beyond, choosing to contribute 10% of sales from the event and divide it among the charity picks of all four participating teams.

That means $100 will be donated to the Tennessee First Responders Foundation on behalf of Rutherford County EMS! 🎉

We couldn’t have made this happen without our employees who showed up, represented RCEMS, and were willing to put their rib-eating skills to the test. 😂👏 Thank you to our team for participating and making a difference beyond the ambulance!

We’re proud to recognize Paramedic Student Allison Mazeall, Paramedic Jerod Sandoval, and AEMT Owen Deocales for their outstanding work in recognizing and appropriately managing a sepsis patient.

In EMS, knowledge changes what you see. 🚑

Every continuing education session, every scenario, every new protocol and every skill we practice adds another piece to the knowledge base our providers draw from when they’re standing at the patient’s side.

In Tennessee, paramedics complete 32 hours of continuing education every two years—an average of 16 hours each year. Our Critical Care Paramedics complete 42 hours every two years, including dedicated critical-care education.

At Rutherford County EMS, we’re proud to make that education a priority. With a dedicated Training Captain and two large classrooms, our providers have the space and resources to continually sharpen their knowledge, practice their skills and prepare for the unexpected.

Because sometimes the difference between seeing a patient and seeing what’s really happening comes down to what you know.

We don’t train because we have to. We train because the next patient deserves a provider who is ready to see what others might miss.

Some stories stay with you. 🧸❤️And this one is especially close to home.

Many of you may remember the story behind Asher’s Animals. After Kaycee Barnes Sullivan tragically lost her son, Asher, from an accident, she found a way to honor his memory by sharing something he loved—stuffed animals. What began from unimaginable heartbreak has grown into an organization that continues to spread Asher’s love and kindness by donating to causes and organizations throughout the community.

Today, Kaycee brought that love full circle when she dropped off stuffed animals for Paramedic Pam Meador and AEMT Brenton Tyring to carry on their truck and give to patients who need a little extra comfort.

But this particular donation is extra special.

Pam and Brenton were the providers who were by Asher’s side, caring for him during the call that changed so many lives. Through their care, Asher became an organ donor, ultimately giving the gift of life to multiple other people.

Today, those same providers are carrying a piece of Asher’s legacy with them—ready to pass along the comfort and love he had for stuffed animals to patients in their own moments of need.

Asher’s love continues to live on, touching lives in ways we may never fully know. ❤️🧸

Thank you, Kaycee, for continuing to share Asher’s love with others and allowing us to be part of his story.

📊 JULY CALL VOLUME

Summer stayed busy for RCEMS! 🚑☀️

Our crews responded to 4,499 calls throughout July — a higher call volume than the previous month as summer activities, sports, holidays, travel and time spent outdoors kept our community moving.

And with MTSU students returning to campus later this month, we expect to see that volume climb even more as thousands of students return to Rutherford County. 🎓💙

Through the busy days, the holiday weekends and everything in between, our crews continue to answer the call 24/7, 365 days a year!

Thank you to our crews for continuing to show up, stay ready and serve our community! 💙🚑
