The comprehensive Plan includes four key phases:
•Phase 1: Evaluation of existing conditions along the Cherry Lane corridor.
•Phase 2: Extension of the roadway as a rural major arterial, setting the foundational alignment.
•Phase 3: Infrastructure development, including critical connectivity to Interstate 840 and the proposed intersection designs at Northwest Broad Street.
•Phase 4: Ultimate buildout, which anticipates transition to an urban major arterial and explores the potential for a full interchange at Interstate 24.

We are making calls and sending emails!

The Murfreesboro Water Resources Department is currently conducting our lead and copper water testing. If you receive a call or email from the Murfreesboro Water Resources Department, please let us know if you’d be willing to participate. We will drop off a bottle on your porch, you will collect a cold-water sample either first thing in the morning or whenever the water hasn’t been used for 6 or more hours, and then you will put the sample bottle back on your porch. We’ll do the rest!

We are only reaching out if we believe your home meets the requirements established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and the State of Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC).

The primary source of lead and copper in drinking water is copper pipes, lead solder used to join copper pipes, lead service lines, and customer's residential plumbing and fixtures. The monitoring that MWRD performs is done to provide safe drinking water to all our customers.

Murfreesboro Air Traffic Control Tower Project The city is planning its first-ever control tower and has applied to join the FAA’s Federal Contract Tower Program, which would provide federally funded staffing.
Current Status (Mid 2026) The project is in early development. The FAA is reviewing design concepts, evaluating tower height and locations, and the city has completed a siting analysis identifying several possible tower sites.
Cost and Funding Estimated cost is $7–9 million. The FAA is expected to cover most construction costs and controller salaries, while the city will handle ongoing maintenance.
Why It’s Needed Murfreesboro’s airport handles more than 90,000 operations a year. A tower would enhance capacity and safety, support regional growth, attract business aviation, and offer better training opportunities for pilots.
