We are saddened by the passing of our retired Firefighter John "Al" Peerbolte. Al was a member of the Munster Fire Department for 56 years. Al joined the department on January 3rd, 1960 and retired on May 6th, 2016.
During his 56 years with the department, Al held many different titles from Firefighter, Engineer, Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief and Assistant Chief.
In the years following his retirement Al continued to be an active member of the Firefighters Association and could be found at the department sharing a cup of coffee with all existing and new members of the department on a weekly basis.
Our condolences, thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family.
Your presence in and around the department will be greatly missed.
Rest easy Al.
