Munising Fire Department

🇺🇸 25 years later, we still remember.

On September 11, 2001, 343 firefighters made the ultimate sacrifice while running toward danger to save others. They left their stations that morning expecting to come home, but instead became forever heroes.

Today, we remember the 343, the police officers, paramedics, and all those who lost their lives, as well as the families and countless others forever changed that day.

We remember their courage.
We honor their sacrifice.
We carry their legacy forward.

From the members of the Munising Fire Department —
Never Forget.

We got called today at 11:35am for a garage fire with construction materials in the garage. Upon arrival heavy smoke coming from Bravo side. My crew did a outstanding job knocking it down and containing it. Alot of the homeowners belongings were saved.

🔥 More pictures from our training burn that took place on 6/13/26 🚒

Last Saturday, firefighters from Munising City, Munising Township, Au Train Township, Onota Township, and Rock River Township Fire Departments came together for a live fire training exercise. These controlled training burns provide invaluable hands-on experience that help firefighters sharpen their skills in fire attack, search and rescue, ventilation, hose line management, and fireground operations.

Training in realistic conditions allow our firefighters to build confidence, improve teamwork, and prepare for the challenges they may face when responding to emergencies in our community.

A big THANK YOU to Ryan Slifka and everyone who helped make this training possible and to all of the firefighters who dedicated their time to learning and improving their craft. The training never stops, and neither does our commitment to protecting the citizens we serve.
