** WATCHING FOR STRONG STORMS LATER THIS AFTERNOON **
An incoming cold front will help to spark up stronger afternoon thunderstorms, primarily across western Pennsylvania. While some storms have already begun to develop, the best risk for these storms will come through between 4 - 9 PM, with the best instability and wind shear.
ZONE 2 - Scattered severe storms can be expected (30-50%). The greatest concern will be strong to damaging wind gusts of 50 -60 mph within thunderstorms and the risk of hail up to quarter-sized. Any rotating storm will have the potential to produce an isolated tornado.
ZONE 1 - Isolated strong storms can be expected (10-30%). These areas will be unfavored to see severe weather, but if the storms in Zone 2 are more expansive than forecasted, they can spill over into this area and produce strong winds. The best chance in these zones will likely be after 7 or 8 PM and through the early overnight, but keep in mind, the strongest storms are currently looking to be 'isolated'.
-> Keep in mind, severe weather does not impact every house or neighborhood. Unless it is a large outbreak, severe weather impacts will differ even across small areas. It is always good to be prepared by having multiple ways of receiving severe weather alerts and a shelter to take cover in when severe weather strikes.
