🚨 Donald Trump put the freeloading alliance model on trial in Dublin, asking why America is protecting leaders who won’t even pitch in for their own security lifeline.
When Trump asked in Dublin, "Why the hell are we helping them?" he exposed the betrayal sitting in plain sight: European leaders wanted the benefits of American power, but not the responsibility of defending their own lifeline.
These same governments depend on the Strait of Hormuz for up to 60 percent of their oil. America takes virtually none. Yet when Trump asked them to help secure that waterway, they answered, "No, we'd rather not get involved, Mr. President."
That is not partnership. That is freeloading with a flag pin.
American taxpayers have spent decades bankrolling global security while allied capitals treated U.S. protection like a permanent entitlement. Washington insiders were happy to tolerate it. American forces carried the risk, American families paid the bill, and foreign governments got to lecture from the sidelines.
America First leadership is forcing that arrangement into the open.
If allies need American protection, they can share the burden. If they refuse to lift a finger for their own energy, they can secure it themselves.
The free ride through the Strait of Hormuz is over.
