Here's another spotlight story about our amazing D75 staff, this one featuring early childhood teacher Ashley Blennerhassett:

At Lincoln Early Learning Center, growth begins with connection.

For early childhood teacher Ashley Blennerhassett, some of the most meaningful moments happen in the small breakthroughs, when a student uses a new word, interacts with a peer for the first time, or gains confidence in something they’ve been working hard to achieve.

Inside her classroom, every activity, conversation, and support strategy is intentional, helping students build communication, independence, and confidence in ways that will stay with them long after they leave the classroom.

At Lincoln, those everyday moments of trust, encouragement, and care are helping build the foundation for lifelong success.

Join us at MG's Discovery Den on Tuesday!

The Mechanics Grove Discovery Den will be open from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16 for students to stop in, check out a book, work on a puzzle or grab a make-and-take STEM bag.

Students must be accompanied by an adult. Any student who attended MG for the 2025-26 school year can check out up to four books at a time. Books are due by the next open library date or can be placed in the brown bin outside the school.

We're so proud of the great work done by Washington School Social Worker Judith Tapia.

Big feelings are part of growing up and at Washington Early Learning Center, students are learning they don’t have to navigate them alone.

Social worker Judith Tapia helps students in kindergarten through second grade build the emotional skills they need to feel safe, supported, and understood. Whether that means taking a deep breath, talking through a tough moment, or learning new coping strategies.

From helping a student identify their feelings to creating coping tools that build independence, her work focuses on helping children understand themselves and respond to their emotions in healthy ways.

Please be aware of our new office hours during the summer.

School Districts 75 and 120 will have new hours of operation during the summer.

The District Office, located at 470 N. Lake Street, Mundelein, as well as all school offices in both districts, will be open from Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The offices will be open from 7 to 11:30 a.m. by appointment only on Fridays.

At the District Office, summer hours will continue through Friday, July 31.

At School Offices, summer hours will continue through Friday, Aug. 21.

At Mechanics Grove Elementary School, the music room is filled with more than songs, it’s filled with joy, confidence, and connection.

For music teacher Ashley Oropeza, creating a space where students feel comfortable expressing themselves is at the heart of every lesson.

Through concerts, cultural music experiences, movement, storytelling, and hands-on learning, students are encouraged to explore creativity while seeing their own cultures and experiences reflected in the classroom.

“One thing I often tell my students is, ‘The music room is a safe place to take a risk and make a mistake,’” she said.

Let’s welcome home our Girls Softball Team after their amazing season and second place finish at state!

We’re hosting a celebration of our state-runner-up MHS Softball Team at 4 p.m. on Sunday at MHS Stadium. The girls had an amazing season, finishing second in the IHSA Class 4A State Tournament this weekend. We invite the entire community to come out on Sunday and show us your Mundy Pride!

Congratulations to the MHS Softball Team!

The Mustangs Softball Team continued their quest for a state title Friday in Peoria, defeating Oswego by a score of 13-3 in the Class 4A semifinal game. MHS will face off against Lincoln-Way West at 4:45 p.m. Saturday in the championship game.

She used to hate science…now she wants to pursue it. At Carl Sandburg Middle School, that kind of transformation happens inside Ms. Cardenas’s classroom.

Not every student walks in confidently. Some feel behind. Some feel unsure. Some have already decided science just isn’t for them.
“I just want them to enjoy learning… I want it to feel like a safe, comfortable space where they can be themselves.”

From real-world lessons to simple conversations about students’ lives, Ms. Cardenas builds trust first, because when students feel seen, they’re more willing to try, to learn, and to believe in themselves.

After the students were all dismissed for the summer, District 75 held its Staff Recognition event on Tuesday. We celebrated our newly tenured staff, our guest teachers and our four retiring staff members. We also presented awards to those who reached milestones of service with the District.

Thanks to all our teachers, administrators, assistants, maintenance workers and others who helped give our students an amazing school year.
