As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door."

Scared yet? 🦇

Spend an evening with the 19th-century's master of the macabre, Edgar Allan Poe, in a performance that blends his life story with his classic tales of horror. The Poe-themed food and cocktail menu is devilishly delicious, too.

💔A Night with Edgar Allan Poe, Saturday, October 10. Two performances: 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Introducing the Seventh Partner in Our Spotlight Series — Genesee Country Village & Museum.

As part of our upcoming virtual roundtable, "Textiles Close Up: The Dressed Body & Wearable Innovations", Genesee Country Village & Museum brings a dynamic perspective grounded in living history, material culture, historic dress, and hands-on interpretation.

Located in Mumford, New York, GCV&M is one of the nation’s largest living history museums. By connecting historic clothing and craft traditions with contemporary questions around wearability, innovation, and material knowledge, GCV&M helps us consider how dress carries stories across generations. Hear more from GCV&M and their historic village, galleries, collections, demonstrations, and educational programs at our virtual roundtable!

Be part of the conversation online on September 23, 2026, from 12:00–1:30 PM EDT as we continue "Textiles Close Up: The Dressed Body & Wearable Innovations." This session is open to all, including those joining the series for the first time.

Classroom packages are available for educators and academic programs interested in participating as a group. A limited number of student scholarships are also available for eligible applicants. We encourage interested students and emerging scholars to reach out for additional information. Contact [email protected] to learn more.

A garden that gives back. 🌿

This year, our new children’s garden took root at the Nature Center with support from the Rochester Garden Club. Starting with compost from manure gathered at the Museum’s farms, our summer campers harvested the garden’s first gourds and squashes!

Through regenerative gardening practices, the plan is to keep the children's garden flourishing well into the future. 🌱

"Toward Freedom & Fairness" is a guided tour that traces the complicated history of enslavement and freedom in the Genesee Valley.

You'll hear the stories of real individuals from Western New York, stories that remind us of the strength and humanity of those who persevered, who built businesses, invented, advocated, and transformed society in ways that continue to resonate today.

✨ Toward Freedom & Fairness, Saturdays & Sundays at 1 p.m. This tour is included with your Museum general admission, with stops in the Toll House, Towar Land Office, Quaker Meeting House, Livingston-Backus House, and Nathaniel Rochester House.
