Another great night for the Fire District!! On Wednesday night the Board of Fire Commissioners passed three hiring resolutions. Brandon Walsh and Grant McNellis was brought on as part-time firefighters to support the staffing levels.

The third resolution was to make history again for the Fire District. Mark Germscheid was sworn in as the first Career Fire Captain.

Captain Germscheid started his fire service career as a member of Harmony Fire Company and rose through the ranks, eventually making it to the rank of Battalion Chief. Mark was also our full time clerk / fire inspector before moving out of state a few years back. And as of Wednesday night, he is back with us!!!

Shortly before 9pm last night D22 was alerted for a reported house fire on Laurel Lane. Chief 22 arrived and reported a working fire and asked for the upgrade for the working fire box. Tower 23 and Battalion 23 were sent on the upgrade. On arrival they were assigned to support the interior operations. While they operated, Harrison remained staffed to support covering the area.

Yesterday around 1245 l, Ladder 23 was dispatched to Pilesgrove Twp for a reported building fire. Command on location reported a large barn on fire. Over the next few hours crews from multiple counties operated to extinguish the fire and overhaul the contents.

Last night at an approximately 7pm, Task Force 23 was dispatched to 35 Woodland Ave for a reported Dwelling Fire. With numerous calls received at the 9-1-1 Center, County Communications upgraded the assignment immediately to a working fire box.

Chief 23 arrived within minutes and reported a single story dwelling that served as the office for the Township Wastewater Treatment Facility with fire showing Division A and extension into the roof line. Ladder 23 arrived as the first due engine and began fire suppression activities. Mutual aid companies from East Greenwich, Mantua, Glassboro, Woolwich, Pitman and Reliance Fire Company all arrived quickly to support the operations.

Fire was placed under control within the 30 min mark.

Fire is being investigated by the Gloucester County Fire Marshall’s office.

Thank you to all of our mutual aid partners for their quick response. No injuries were reported.
