Our mission is to protect and support the people of Moxee through service, safety, and strong community partnerships. This page is a limited public forum of the Moxee Police Department. The Moxee Police Department will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of Juneteenth.

Please note this closure applies to the administrative office ONLY. Police service will continue to operate as normal.

If you have an emergency, please call 911 immediately.

For non-emergency police assistance and to speak with an officer, please call 509-575-8850. Calls will be routed through Yakima County Dispatch.

On Friday we successfully completed our Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) Instructor Certification Course, and it was a tremendous success.

A huge thank you to Brookside Funeral Home & Crematory and Hammer EVOC training facility for sponsoring/ hosting this course.

Thank you to all of the agencies that participated and contributed to making this training possible. The collaboration, professionalism, and commitment to the community, and officer safety demonstrated throughout the day was outstanding.

We also appreciate all the agencies that provided training vehicles and resources, helping ensure realistic and effective hands-on instruction. This type of regional partnership strengthens our collective ability to train together, work together, and serve our communities safely and professionally.

Thank you to everyone involved for your dedication to training and commitment to excellence. Washington State recently passed legislation (ESSB 6110) to help clarify the difference between electric-assisted bicycles (e-bikes) and electric motorcycles (e-motos).

Beginning June 11, 2026, an electric-assisted bicycle in Washington must generally:

✔ Have fully operable pedals
✔ Have a motor rated at 750 watts or less
✔ Meet one of Washington’s three e-bike classifications

If a vehicle does not meet the legal definition of an e-bike, it may be regulated under other Washington laws that apply to motorcycles, mopeds, or other motor vehicles.

A simple rule: If the rider is not properly licensed, or the vehicle is not street legal, it should not be operated on public roads.

Riders and parents should know that electric motorcycles operated on public roads may be subject to licensing, registration, insurance, helmet, and other traffic law requirements.

Parents and guardians can also be held responsible for allowing an unlicensed juvenile to operate a motor vehicle in violation of state law.

These laws exist to protect everyone on our roadways, trails, and sidewalks. We encourage all riders and parents to take a few minutes to review the attached infographic and ensure their vehicle is being operated legally and safely.

Moxee Elementary Sweet 17 Race 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

City leadership, City Public Works, and the Moxee Police Department had a great time cheering on the kiddos today!

We loved seeing the students excitement, determination, and school spirit as they crossed the finish line. Thank you to Moxee Elementary for letting us be part of such a fun event and for giving us the opportunity to support our local students.

FIREWORKS PERMIT REMINDER

The City of Moxee would like to remind residents that anyone who chooses to possess, use, and/or discharge consumer fireworks on July 4, 2026, within the City of Moxee is REQUIRED to purchase an Individual Use, Possession, and Discharge Permit.

Permit applications will be accepted at Moxee City Hall beginning May 1, 2026, through July 2, 2026, at noon.

The application fee is $50.00, and the permit must be posted on the property. Applicants must be residents of the City of Moxee.

Need to contact the Moxee Police Department for a non-emergency matter? We’re here to help!

Non-Emergency Phone Number: (509) 575-8850

Moxee PD Office Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

This phone number is available 24 hours a day for NON-Emergency incidents. After hours calls will be answered by the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office.

When you call during business hours, a live person will answer whenever possible. Because our office is staffed by one administrative employee, calls may occasionally be forwarded to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office.

Moxee PD contracts with the Yakima County Sheriff’s office for 24 hour dispatch service.

PLEASE NOTE:

The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office dispatch also deals with Emergency phone calls and prioritizes emergency calls.

If your call is transferred, there may be a brief delay before someone answers.
