The Mountain Fire Department was recognized in 1953 by the Mountain Town Board, consisting of Chairman Tom Fitzpatrick and Supervisors William Lazansky and Bernard Bowman. We serve the community of Mountain in conjunction with training and assisting our

neighbors of Doty, Crooked Lake, Riverview, Lakewood and Townsend. Come and enjoy the fun while helping your friends and neighbors stay safe! If interested, applications are available on the Town of Mountain website.

Burning Permit Restrictions
For northern Oconto County including the Townships of Brazeau, Bagley, Breed or any Townships to the north, burning is allowed today with a DNR annual burning permit from 6 pm to midnight for a covered barrel, debris pile less than 6x6x6 feet in size, and grass or wooded area less than 1 acre. Any burning outside of these restrictions requires a special burning permit issued by the local DNR Ranger Station. For southern Oconto County including the Townships of How, Maple Valley, Spruce, Lena, Little River or any Townships to the south, a DNR burning permit is not required from June 1st to December 31st except when emergency burning restrictions are in effect, therefore burning is allowed at any time today.
