Our recent lack of rain in August and early September has led to a continued expansion of the drought. Part of the area has increased into a D2 Severe Drought. Little to no rainfall is expected through the middle of next week.

Due to extremely dry and low humidity conditions, Howell County Rural Fire Departments and Howell County Emergency Management strongly advise residents not to intentionally burn until at least we receive rain for relief. If conditions persist and excessive calls for Fire response, a Burn Ban may be issued later based on the drought monitor and other contrubuting factors.
