Rengstorff House The Rengstorff House is Mountain View's oldest historic house. Located inside Shoreline, it is surrounded by a sailing lake, wetlands and bird sanctuary.

The Rengstorff House and gardens are available for rental every day except during our public hours, which are currently Tuesday and Wednesday, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Included in the rental fee is the use of the entire first floor of this historic Victorian home, which includes a gracious

dining room and three lovely parlors, all decorated with classic period decor. Cozy fireplaces, a fully equipped, modern catering kitchen, rest rooms and dressing area are also available. The beautifully landscaped gardens offer outdoor splendor with lawns, year-round blooming flowers and spacious brick patios. Also nearby are the Shoreline Golf Links and Shoreline Sailing Lake. The maximum capacity of the House using only the indoor areas is 48 people. Using both the indoor and outdoor areas, the House and grounds can accommodate up to 150 guests and is wheelchair-accessible. Tours of the house are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. We are always seeing volunteers to assist and expand your offerings — no experience necessary! The grounds and gardens are open to the public during the same hours.

📣 Update: City of Mountain View offices and non-emergency response facilities will be closed or have modified hours during the holiday closure between December 24, 2024 through January 1, 2025.

We thank you for your friendship and support, this holiday season and beyond. The Rengstorff House is still seeking enthusiastic and congenial volunteers to ensure regular Saturday tours. Volunteers must be supervised or a minimum of 18 years of age.

As you consider New Year’s resolutions, please consider getting involved in your local community, and/or join the Friendsofrhouse to ensure ongoing engagement and special events. You may refer to the City’s website for winter and spring tour times. Catch just one more holiday tour today until Noon, or January 4 before the decor comes down. Happy holidays again to all!

Happy holidays from all of us, including the Friendsofrhouse, this holiday season and beyond!

You are invited to join us Saturday, December 7 for a “Quaint Victorian Holiday” featuring a holiday crafts, festive carolers, Victorian fashion, a visit from Father Christmas, local history, seasonal decor and more.

The house will be open at 9:00 a.m. for traditional historic home tours and this year’s Christmas display.

The Friends of “R” House holiday event includes photo opportunities (based on space availability), a performance early afternoon, and other seasonal fun, 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Mark your calendars, and join us for a Quaint Victorian Holiday on Dec. 7th and enjoy their festive acapella performance, historical tours and commentary from costumed docents, authentic-style hands-on crafts, a visit from Father Christmas, and more at the decorated historic home.

The Rengstorff House is pleased to announce regular Saturday morning tours, 9 a.m. to Noon — especially scheduled for our environmentally-minded early birds who want to combine a tour with morning walking/birding activities, and breakfast/brunch at Shoreline Park & Lake and Michaels At Shoreline Restaurant, or other nearby eateries!

In the meantime, we are pleased to announce a Friendsofrhouse and Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society event, scheduled for April 14! Looks very and .

Important note: this weekend only, our volunteer has to leave a tad bit early, so please arrive before 11:00 a.m.

COUNTDOWN to Celebrate Shoreline, an acknowledgment of the past, present and future of the Shoreline at Mountain View - Wildlife & Recreation Area, the surrounding Shoreline Community, and more!

Sunday, October 15, 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The City’s large-scale event is family-friendly, including carnival games, live entertainment, as well as our own nod to the past, with plenty of other fun activities throughout!

Here are a few tips for enjoying the Shoreline celebration:
Parking lots inside the regional park will be closed during the event.
Parking will be available in lots along Shoreline Boulevard near the park entrance.
Free shuttle service will be provided from 10:45 a.m.-5 p.m. on a continuous basis.

No dogs or domesticated animals are allowed inside the park.
No drones are allowed.

At the celebration, event goers will learn about the history of the Shoreline Regional Park Community, which Shoreline at Mountain View is a part of, and why it was established as a Special Park District by the state legislature in 1969. They will discover Shoreline's transformation from an auto wrecking yard, a landfill and a hog farm into the recreational and environmental jewel we know and love today. They will also find out about the vision of the Shoreline Community, which will bring forth dynamic, new neighborhoods containing housing, retail establishments, city and educational facilities, and new parks while preserving its natural heritage.
