The City of Mountain View is excited to share that the final draft of the Biodiversity and Urban Forest Plan is now available for public review on the project webpage, BiodiversityMV.com.

This is an exciting milestone following years of planning, technical analysis, community engagement, and collaboration. The Plan provides a bold, long-term framework to guide biodiversity, urban forest, habitat, and climate resilience efforts throughout Mountain View.
The Biodiversity and Urban Forest Plan is scheduled to be presented to the City Council for adoption on June 23, 2026. Please visit BiodiversityMV.com for information about the upcoming Council meeting and to access the final draft Plan. We encourage you to share the webpage with your networks.

Thank you for the time, expertise, feedback, and thoughtful engagement you contributed throughout this process. Your input helped shape the Plan’s vision, goals, actions, and implementation framework, and we are grateful for your partnership in advancing this important effort.

We look forward to continuing this work together as the City moves from planning toward implementation.

The US National Weather Service San Francisco Bay Area/Monterey California has issued a heat advisory for portions of the San Francisco Bay Area, including Mountain View, which will be in effect on Thursday, June 11, from noon - 11:00 p.m. Afternoon high temperatures are expected to exceed average temperatures for most locations, resulting in an increased risk for those sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling or adequate hydration.

In anticipation of the heat, the City of Mountain View will open the following facilities to the public as air-conditioned cooling centers to find shelter from the heat:

• The Police Services Fire Administration Building lobby at 1000 Villa St. will be open to the public Thursday and Friday, June 11 and 12, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
• The Mountain View Community Center lobby at 201 S. Rengstorff Ave. will be open to the public Thursday, June 11, 8:30 a.m.-10:00 p.m., and Friday, June 12, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
• The Mountain View Public Library at 585 Franklin St. will be open to the public Thursday, June 11, 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m., and Friday, June 12, 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Call 9-1-1 if you are experiencing a medical emergency.

Do you have items that you like but no longer work? Don’t toss them, repair them! Volunteers will help you assess and fix your things for free instead of throwing them away.

Saturday, June 13
11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Mountain View Senior Center, 266 Escuela Avenue

Repair Café Silicon Valley is a volunteer-run, community service dedicated to encouraging the repair and reuse of goods, rather than sending them to the landfill.

At Repair Café events, volunteers will guide you to tackle the repair yourself or fix it while you watch and learn. Chances are you will leave with a once-again useful item and some knowledge of how to repair things on your own.

New public art celebrating Mountain View’s history and cultural diversity was installed in May at the Mountain View train depot building. Through a partnership between the City of Mountain View, Arts Mountain View, and the Valley Transportation Authority, a series of colorful panels created by Bay Area artist John Patrick Thomas now wrap portions of the depot building.

The City is planning a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the public-private partnership that made this project possible.

Thursday, June 11 at 3:00 p.m.
Mountain View Transit Center, Evelyn Avenue and Castro Street

The installation adds vibrancy to this highly visible gateway and creates a more welcoming experience for the thousands of residents, workers, and visitors who pass through the area each day.
