Free Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off

Free household hazardous waste collection event coming to Mountain View on Saturday, August 22! Safely dispose of cleaners and chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, degreasers and solvents, aerosols, paint, batteries, electronics, auto fluids, used oil, propane tanks, fluorescent and LED lightbulbs, and more. This event also accepts unwanted or expired drugs and sharps. No aerial or marine flares, explosives, or radioactive material.

• Appointments are required; call 408-299-7300 or book your appointment online at HHW.org.
• To schedule online, click the blue “Make a Free Appointment” button, then select Mountain View on the calendar for August 22.
• Upon booking your appointment, you will receive the specific Mountain View drop-off location.

If you cannot attend the event on Aug. 22, the County has permanent hazardous waste drop-off facilities available year-round to County residents by appointment using 🔗HHW.org.

Free Repair Café Event August 16
Do you have things that you like, but no longer work? Don’t toss them, repair them! Volunteers will help you assess and fix your things for free instead of throwing them away.

11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Mountain View Senior Center, 266 Escuela Avenue

Repair Café Silicon Valley is a volunteer-run, community service dedicated to encouraging the repair and reuse of goods, rather than sending them to the landfill.

At Repair Café events, volunteers will guide you either in tackling the repair yourself or having it fixed while you watch and learn. Chances are you will leave with a useful item again and some knowledge of how to repair your item(s) and others'.

Citywide Garage Sale Registration Open

The Citywide Garage Sale is back, and registration is now open! This year’s Garage Sale will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19 and Sunday, Sept. 20 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Join hundreds of residents hold garage sales at their homes in Mountain View. This event supports the City's Zero Waste goals by keeping reusable items out of the landfill and conserving natural resources.

Sellers may choose to participate on one day or both days of the sale. The event is advertised in local and regional newspapers, social media, websites, etc.

On Wednesday, Sept. 16, the City will publish the garage sale addresses, map, and list of items for sale on our website along with printed copies for pickup near City Hall and the library.

The City also has an online map for shoppers to easily filter garage sales by address, date, item categories, and access to Google Map directions to help plan which homes to visit for the event.

Residents can register their homes for the sale at MountainView.gov/GarageSale. Enhanced tips for sellers to hold a successful sale are also available at this link.
