National Read Across America Day kicked off today, Monday, March 2, and our Mountain House firefighters started the week in the best way, by reading to students at Altamont Elementary School ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ”ฅ

There is something so special about seeing our local heroes share their love of books with the next generation. Moments like this build strong readers and an even stronger community here in Mountain House.

Fell asleep for a second. Caused thousands in damage. Could have cost a life. ๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ฅ

Late last night near N. Central Pkwy & W. Calabria Dr, a driver dozed off and sheared off a fire hydrant, flooding the street and destroying new landscaping. Crews secured the scene and shut down the water to prevent further damage. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported. ๐Ÿ™

Drowsy driving is not harmless. It is dangerous, unpredictable, and preventable. If your eyes feel heavy, pull over. A short rest can save a life.

Be honestโ€ฆ have you ever pushed yourself to drive when you were too tired? Drop a ๐Ÿ’ง in the comments to remind others to stay alert.
