May is Mental Health Awareness Month!
Bennett Mountain School in the Mountain Home School District #193 enrolls over 100 students in grades 6–12. According to the Idaho Report Card website, this school is classified as both a Goal Maker and Top Performer. Which means students here continue to meet or exceed state-set benchmarks for continuous improvement. They recently shared a t-shirt and some swag from their You Are More initiative. A student-led, community-driven mental health awareness movement that started in Mountain Home.
"At its core," writes principal Stehvn Tesar in his letter to the Superintendent, "it is about encouraging kindness, normalizing conversations around mental health, and helping reduce the stigma around asking for support. What began as a small high school club has grown into a district-wide initiative."
Every second Wednesday of the month, students and staff wear You Are More apparel and take part in simple, meaningful activities that promote empathy, connection, and mental well-being.
"We are incredibly proud of the students who lead this work and grateful for the way our community has embraced the message," wrote Principal Tesar.
