Air Force Appreciation Day Parade Info ✈️🎉
Richard McKenna Charter School is getting ready to march in the Air Force Appreciation Day Parade, and we can’t wait to celebrate with our community! We are in Spot #50, which is the corner of S 2nd E St & E 4th S. We will be meeting starting at 10 am.
Before we step out, here is a quick safety checklist for all of our participants and families:
🍬 Hand It Over! No throwing candy, toys, or objects from vehicles or while walking. All treats must be handed directly to spectators on the sidelines.
🛑 Stay Put While Moving! No jumping on or off floats, trailers, vehicles, or animals while the parade is in motion. Wait for a full and complete stop before getting on or off. 👨‍👩‍👧 Rider Rules: Anyone under 14 years old riding or walking with the float must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
⚠️ Safety First: Following these rules keeps everyone safe and ensures our school stays in the parade!
👕Clothes: Students will need to wear their Navy Blue polo and either jeans or khakis. We really encourage them to wear good walking shoes.
🧍Parents: We'd love to have parents walking with us in the parade. Please wear patriotic colors.
Let’s show our spirit and make it a great event! 🦅✨

We are so grateful for Mrs. Katie Krumdieck! An alum of Eastern Washington University, Mrs. Katie brings 22 years of teaching experience—including three wonderful years at Richard McKenna—along with a lifelong passion for sharing the joy of music with her students. She loves how our school actively supports music opportunities, as well as the incredible staff and students who make Richard McKenna such a special place to work. Mrs. Katie is also deeply thankful to the Richard McKenna and Mountain Home communities for the overwhelming love, care, and support shown to her family following their house fire last spring. Thank you, Mrs. Katie, for your dedication, heart, and the beautiful music you bring to our school family every day! 🎶👏

Today we are getting to know Mr. Jeremy Sayer! With 25 years of teaching experience—including 24 years with Richard McKenna Online and 2 years on-site at Richard McKenna—Mr. Sayer brings an extraordinary depth of dedication to our school family as our Physical Education teacher for grades K-12. A proud graduate of Mackay High School, he went on to pursue his higher education at Ricks College and Idaho State University to teach a subject he fell in love with during his own school days. What Mr. Sayer loves most about working here is the amazing atmosphere, the wonderful students, and the supportive staff. Guided by the wisdom to always "be yourself and get to know others by being kind and helpful," he inspires everyone around him to live by his favorite motto: "Remember who you are!" Thank you, Mr. Sayer, for your heart, humor, and tireless commitment to our students! 🍎✨

Welcome Our New School Counselor – Mrs. Kim Bearden!

We are excited to introduce Mrs. Kim Bearden as our new school counselor for the 2026–2027 school year!

Mrs. Bearden brings 20 years of experience in education, having worked with students in every grade level from kindergarten through 12th grade. Her passion for building meaningful relationships with students makes her a wonderful addition to our school community.

One of the things Mrs. Bearden loves most about Richard McKenna Charter School is the small class sizes and family atmosphere. She believes that knowing students personally allows her to better support their growth both inside and outside of the classroom.

Mrs. Bearden chose to transition into counseling to help students discover the many opportunities available to them. She is passionate about teaching life skills, supporting students' social and emotional well-being, and helping meet needs that extend beyond academics and the school day. Her goal is to ensure every student feels supported, prepared, and empowered for success after graduation.

Outside of school, Mrs. Bearden is the proud mother of two wonderful children and comes from a family with a strong military background. She understands the unique strengths and challenges that military families experience and is excited to support all of our students and families.

In addition to her counseling role, Mrs. Bearden will also be teaching our EMT course, allowing students to gain valuable emergency medical knowledge and hands-on career skills.

Please join us in giving Mrs. Bearden a warm Lions welcome! We are thrilled to have her on our team and look forward to the positive impact she will make in the lives of our students.

Take a look at a few of our students who have dedicated countless hours to caring for and preparing their 4-H animals! Many people may not realize the level of commitment, responsibility, and grit it takes to raise and show an animal. From early mornings and late nights to balancing school, sports, and other activities, these students demonstrate hard work and perseverance every step of the way.

Inside and outside of school, our students continue to set a great example and serve as positive role models in our community. Congratulations to all of our students who weathered the heat this week and represented themselves, their families, and our community with pride. We are so proud of you!
