Be advised this morning we are getting a ton of rain. There is some minor flooding on streets so be cautious. Low water bridges are starting to overflow so may want to find alternative routes.

As far as the Lake Lilly Project it is working perfectly! Streets such as W 3rd where we used to have flooding issues is working perfectly. Yes there is rain water on it but the flooding issues of the past are so far holding up great.

This is awesome to see. Roughly last November the department was dispatched for a working fire on Hillcrest. Though it got into the attic, the garage, and utility room the rest of the house suffered heavy smoke damage.

Today the home had a final inspection after its remodel got finished. It's truly awesome to see as a Fire Department a home saved and will once again be lived in by a family.

Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, dedication, and selfless service will never be forgotten.

As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, we ask everyone to take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who gave everything for them.

From all of us at the fire department, we extend our deepest gratitude to our fallen heroes and their families.

Some calls end in laughter.

Yesterday we were dispatched for a child with their head stuck in guard rail. Upon arrival we indeed found a child with their head stuck. The child was not in distress and the parent was supporting the child up. We then used the jaws of life to lightly spread the fence apart enough to free the child.

After a quick assessment of the child she was found to be perfectly fine without a scratch and zero fear. This is not an everyday call but this one ended with lots of laughs and a child ready to play.

Hope you all have a safe and wonderful Memorial Day weekend.

Yesterday at 13:13 the department was dispatched for Mutual Aid for Cabool Fire Department off U Hwy.

Engine 311 responded. Upon arrival we were instructed to drop a line and begin working on the A/B side. This was a single story stick frame home. With limited crew from Cabool, Grove, and Willow Springs it was determined by IC to only be a defensive attack and try and keep it from spreading, as we did not have enough entry personnel on scene.

It is believed that during a morning storm lighting struck the home and the homeowner was away. The fire was called in by a neighbor who stated there was already a fire showing from the East side of the home. With heavy winds the fire quickly pushed through the home. Sadly after trying to stop the spread the homeowner didn't want any firefighters hurt trying to save it and let it burn. A hard decision was made by my IC to let it burn.

The Community Strong Project will be assisting today with needed items.
