Motherhood is often seen as a time of joy, laughter, and love, but for many moms, it’s also a time of hidden struggles. Functioning depression can be difficult to recognize because, on the outside, everything seems fine. The house is clean, the kids are fed, and the to-do list gets checked off. But inside, there’s a heaviness that feels impossible to explain.
To the mom smiling at school drop-off while holding back tears in the car, to the mom managing to care for everyone else while neglecting herself—you are not alone.
It’s okay to feel overwhelmed. It’s okay to ask for help. And it’s okay to admit that sometimes, being “strong” feels like too much. You are more than your struggles, and seeking support doesn’t make you weak—it makes you courageous.
Let’s normalize this conversation and remind moms everywhere: You’re doing your best, and that’s enough.
