In the morning, Bullitt County schools start back. As we all know, traffic will be a hot 🔥 mess and that’s ok. It’s the first day of school. Be prepared and plan accordingly. Leave a little early for work. If you need gas, top it off today to save time in the morning. Just take a deeeeeep breath. We all know and are aware of our road situation. Don't let it ruin your day. Keep on smiling 😁 and have a great rest of the week!!

Facebook do your thing!! You came through the intersection of Hwy 44 and Old Bardstown Road in the middle of town. This was WHAS 11 Crusade for Children week, which was June 1st through June 7th. You rolled down your window and made a donation. When you did, you accidentally dropped something in with your donation. It was a pendant/charm. We have been watching facebook and have not seen anyone post describing this item that they lost. We want to get it back to the rightful owner. This is our mission. So please share. If the rightful owner would email [email protected] and describe the item’s shape, what is on the front, what is on the back, and what material it’s made of, we will get it back to you. Thanks for your help!!

On Tuesday July 21, 2026 they are predicting another weather event. In case there is, PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH STANDING OR MOVING WATER ON A FLOODED ROADWAY. I bet you are asking yourself… why do they keep making these post? It's because people still do it. It puts your life at risk and our lives at risk also. It can all be avoided. Just don’t do it. We are aware Greenwell Ford Road and Greenbrier Road are problem areas when we get copious amounts of rain. Should we get flash flooding, avoid those roads. Louisville has the" can opener" and I guess we have the "splash park". Please do not take the chance. Also, please stay away from any down power lines. Have a great week and stay safe! 👍

It is official. Retirement papers are signed, sealed and delivered. Sgt Brandon Cantrell and Firefighter Kristen M Calvert will officially clock out July 31, 2026 at 23:59 for the last time. In 2006 when we transitioned from a volunteer fire department to a combination fire department they applied and were hired. They took a chance on us and we took a chance on them. For two decades they called 772 North Bardstown Road their second home. For 20 years, they stayed dedicated to the Mt. Washington Fire Protection District. They both were instrumental in starting the Santa truck and getting it on the road every year and Firefighter Calvert was a member of the Honor Guard. Sgt Cantrell served on the Ems board when the ambulance service was started. We greatly appreciate the contributions and sacrifices that they have made over the past 20 years. They missed holidays, birthdays and other meaningful life events. That all ends for them and they get to return to a normal life and be home every night of the week with family. July 31st from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm we will have a retirement lunch at our Station 1. Feel free to stop by and say hi and wish them a happy retirement.
Sgt Cantrell and Firefighter Calvert we wish you well and greatly appreciate your service to the fire district. Go enjoy life!! 🚒🔥🚒🔥🚒🔥

The smoke everyone is seeing and smelling is coming from an agricultural burn off of Vaughn Road south of town. We have knocked down most of the fire but it may still smolder into tomorrow.

If you live in the city limits of MT. Washington you have been involved in what some have dubbed as "Garbage Gate 2026". The switch from Republic to Rumpke. Many of the Republic recycle ♻️ bins evidently have not been picked up. We have a GREAT tip for you! If you’re setting off fireworks and still have that recycle bin, fill it with water 💧 and after your fireworks go boom 💥, take the leftovers and drop them in the recycle bin to soak before putting them in the trash 🗑. Yes, we have had house fires because of trash cans in the garage or next to the garage that have caught fire because of discarded firework debris that was put in the trash and not soaked in water beforehand. Have a great weekend. Stay hydrated and stay safe! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

This coming week is going to be no joke. If you work out side or going to be out side please stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water 💧. Put some towels in a cooler with ice and a little water so you can cool down with them. Take several breaks.
Stay cool and stay safe.

All 6 fire depts in Bullitt Co have been very busy this morning responding to water emergencies. Judge Summer's has placed Bullitt Co under a State of Emergency due to the flash flooding. We have more rain coming today. PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH STANDING WATER OR FLOODED ROADWAYS.
