It has recently been brought to our attention that a resident expressed concern about being transported by ambulance due to potential costs. We would like to provide reassurance and clarity to our community.
If you are a resident of the Southeast Hardin Northwest Union Joint Fire District (serving Washington Township, Hale Township, Dudley Township, and the Village of Mt. Victory), you will not receive a bill for our services.
In August 2023, our Board passed a resolution to implement what is known as “soft billing.” This means that while our department does submit claims to a patient’s insurance provider for ambulance transport, we do not pursue residents for any remaining balance, including co-pays or deductibles. Any amount not covered by insurance is written off.
For residents without insurance, the cost of services is also written off entirely.
If you are a resident and happen to receive a bill, please contact our department so we can resolve the matter promptly.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to reach out, 937-354-2345.
Thank you for your continued support of your local fire district!
