Please say some prayers for a fellow brother from the Laporte County Sheriff’s Office, as he recovers from being senselessly shot in the line of duty yesterday while serving his community.

Kids and Car Safety Offers Free National Teen Driver Safety Course

Teens Nationwide Encouraged to Complete 20-Minute Course to Build Life-Saving Skills

Kids and Car Safety, in partnership with Honda and Impact Teen Drivers, is proud to announce the launch of a free, national Teen Driver Safety Course designed to equip teens with critical, real-world safety knowledge to help prevent vehicle-related tragedies.

This online, self-paced course takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and is open to teens and parents across the country. Upon completion, participants receive a certificate and gain practical safety skills that can be applied in everyday situations.

As an added incentive, the first 1,000 teens who complete the course by July 1, 2026, will be entered to win JBL earbuds, with three winners selected.

Education is one of the most powerful tools we have to prevent tragedies,” said Amber Rollins, Executive Director of Kids and Car Safety. “This course gives teens the knowledge and confidence to recognize risks and take action whether they are new drivers, babysitters, or simply spending time around younger children.”

The course covers critical topics including:

● Vehicle submersion survival

● Frontover and backover incidents

● Hot car dangers and prevention

● Risks of leaving children and pets unattended in vehicles

Designed with accessibility in mind, the course is fully online and includes a short survey at the end. Participants can also earn volunteer credit while gaining a competitive edge for jobs such as babysitting or childcare.

Vehicle-related incidents involving children and pets remain a significant concern nationwide, yet many are preventable with the right education and awareness. This course empowers teens to become part of the solution by learning how to identify dangers and respond effectively.

Teens, parents, and community members are encouraged to take advantage of this free resource and help create safer environments for children and families.

Last night (4.26.26), we lost a great man. We know Tony is finally at peace, but the loss is hitting us all very hard. Tony faithfully served our city for over 30 years and even though he acted grumpy and gruff, we all knew he had the biggest heart and truly cared about his fellow officers and the community. There are not enough words to fully express how much Tony meant to all of us. We are trying to find comfort in telling the multitude of stories and we will continue to do so for years to come. Tony, we love you and we will always cherish the time we had with you. Rest easy brother, we will take it from here.

Celebrate the life of Anthony Stallings and join others in sharing memories, stories, and condolences.
