This past week Chief Adam Bales travelled to Bowling Green to attend the Kentucky Association of Fire Chief’s annual conference.

On day one, Indianapolis Fire Department Battalion Chief Dr. Candace Ashby was the keynote speaker and delivered an excellent presentation on organizational leadership.

On day two, Kentucky Emergency Management US&R Coordinator Doug Hargreaves provided vital updates on the status of the state’s Urban Search & Rescue program.

Day two also included a presentation from ISO-Verisk Community Hazard Field Representative Amber Clouser which included key information on the scoring process for ISO.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity for chief officers to gain knowledge while also networking with their colleagues from across the commonwealth.

On August 18th, National Volunteer Firefighter Day, we received a bag of goodies from Mrs. Roxanne Hammond for our volunteer firefighters.

We would like to take this time to give a big thank you to Mrs. Roxanne Hammond for putting together a bag of goodies for us share with our volunteer firefighters.

Our department is fortunate to have members who give their time to serve this community. Whether it’s responding to calls, training, or helping around the department, our volunteers put in a lot of time behind the scenes.

We also want to say thank you to everyone in our community who donated to Mrs. Roxanne and helped make this possible. We truly appreciate the support and kindness shown to our department and our volunteers.

Main Street in Mt. Vernon is back open at this time! The street has been washed and is ready to go for the Duck Duck Jeep End of Summer Bash this Thursday!
