☀️ EXTREME HEAT WARNING CONTINUES ☀️

The prolonged stretch of dangerous heat continues across our area as we head into the holiday weekend.

The National Weather Service has an Extreme Heat Warning in effect through Saturday, with heat index values of 103°–110°F expected. Actual temperatures will approach 100°F across much of the region.

🌡️ A few things to know:

• Overnight temperatures will remain very warm, generally in the mid-70s, offering limited relief from the daytime heat.
• Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible today and Saturday, but they are expected to provide little relief from the heat.
• A brief cool down is expected on Labor Day, but the heat and humidity are forecast to return

⚠️ Please continue to take precautions. Limit strenuous outdoor activity when possible, stay hydrated, take frequent breaks in air conditioning or shade, and never leave children or pets in a vehicle.

Please also check on family members, friends and neighbors who may be more vulnerable to extreme heat, particularly children, older adults, pregnant individuals and those with chronic illnesses.

The heat has already been with us for several days, and that prolonged exposure can take a toll. Don’t let your guard down as we head into the holiday weekend.

Unfortunately this heat doesn't look to be giving up 🥵. The extreme heat looks to continue through at least Saturday. A "cold" front tries to work in late Saturday into Sunday which should lower temperatures a few degrees, but highs in the lower to mid 90s look likely to persist even behind the front.

Tomorrow and Friday will be much like what todays conditions will be, but Saturday will have slightly more cloud cover. 🌥️

Remember to stay hydrated 🫗
Take Regular breaks in the shade 🌳
Make sure your pets have water 🐶🐱
Check on your neighbors and the elderly
Stay safe ‼️

Its another hot one today. No changes to the headlines, but the heat advisory may need to be extended into the Saturday withe the bulk of our low rain chances not arriving until late Saturday.

Below are some tips to try to stay cool, as well as the symptom differences between heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Drink plenty of water, take breaks and check in on neighbors and elderly.

☀️ DANGEROUS HEAT CONTINUES THIS WEEK ☀️

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Heat Advisory through Friday, with a prolonged period of dangerous heat expected across our area.

🌡️ What to expect:

Daily heat index values generally 100°–106°F
Actual temperatures climbing into the upper 90s to around 100°F later this week
Very warm nights, with lows remaining in the mid-70s, providing little relief from the daytime heat
Relief from the prolonged heat is not expected until next weekend

⚠️ Please take the heat seriously. If you work or spend time outdoors, drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks, and spend time in the shade or an air-conditioned location whenever possible.

Be alert for signs of heat-related illness, including muscle cramps or spasms, nausea, dizziness, weakness, or fainting. Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle, even for a short period of time.

Please remember to check on elderly family members, neighbors, and others who may be especially vulnerable to the heat.

Summer is hanging on with everything it's got. A heat wave is expected to begin Sunday.

Drink plenty of water and beverages with electrolytes can also help protect against heat stress.

Wear lightweight, loose-fitting and light-colored clothing when possible. If working outside, make sure to take regular breaks in the shade.

Main timing will be between 7 and midnight.

Flash flooding could be a possibility, so if you see standing water on the road ways turn around, don’t drive through it.

🥵 EXTREME HEAT CONTINUES THROUGH THE WEEKEND 🥵

Oppressive heat and humidity will continue across the area through this weekend. An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through Sunday.

🌡️ Afternoon heat index values are forecast to reach 111°–115°F.

🌙 Unfortunately, there won't be much relief overnight either, with low temperatures only falling into the mid to upper 70s.

With several days of extreme heat, the risk of heat-related illness can increase. Please take precautions:

☀️ Limit strenuous outdoor activity, especially during the hottest part of the day.
💧 Drink plenty of water — don't wait until you're thirsty.
🏠 Take frequent breaks in air conditioning or a cool location.
👵 Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and others who may be especially vulnerable to the heat.
🐾 Keep pets cool and make sure they have plenty of fresh water and shade.
🚗 Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle — even for a short period of time.

Take this heat seriously and take care of yourself and those around you.

The dangerous and prolonged heat wave will continue through the upcoming weekend and it looks like it will only get worse as we move into the Friday through Sunday time period.

Strong to severe storms will approach and pass through at least the northeast half of the Quad State this afternoon into evening. The greatest time threat period will be between 4-10PM.

Weather Update 8/11/26 1:30 PM:

A Heat Advisory will remain in effect through Thursday, but it is likely that this will be expanded through the weekend for our region.

There is potential for severe weather, mainly on Wednesday, between the hours of 4-10PM. Damaging winds will be the main concern.
