Arriving to East Elementary on their last day of school are our retiring teachers, Mrs. Toni Williams and Mr. Steve Tier. After years of inspiring minds, shaping futures, and making a lasting impact on countless students, today we celebrate the retirement of these two incredible educators.

They are accompanied by Principal, Mrs. Watterson. For nine wonderful years, Mrs. Watterson’s leadership, kindness, and dedication have inspired students, staff, and families throughout our elementary school community. Mrs. Watterson will be the New Director of Curriculum for Mount Vernon City Schools.

Our third graders stepped back in time during their visit to Historic Roscoe Village! Students explored what life was like in the 1800s through hands-on activities, historical demonstrations, and interactive experiences throughout the village. From learning about Ohio’s canal history to visiting shops and meeting historical interpreters, our students had an unforgettable day of learning beyond the classroom! 🦅

Our ROX (Ruling Our eXperiences) group has been a special opportunity for some of our fifth grade girls to build confidence, strengthen friendships, and grow as leaders! Through meaningful conversations, teamwork, and encouragement, these students are learning the importance of believing in themselves and supporting one another. Our 4th and 5th graders had an incredible day biking to The Brown Family Environmental Center for a hands-on outdoor learning adventure! Before the ride began, the Mount Vernon Police Department kicked off the day with an important bike safety lesson and then safely escorted our students across busy streets along the route. We are so thankful for their support in helping keep our riders safe and confident on the road!

Once at the BFEC, students explored animal ecosystems both on land and in the water through exciting investigations, observations, and outdoor exploration. From biking together as a school to learning in nature, the day was filled with fun, curiosity, and unforgettable experiences!

We are so grateful to the BFEC for providing such amazing educational opportunities for our students and helping foster a love for the environment and outdoor learning. A huge thank you also goes to our wonderful chaperones who helped guide students at each station and supported riders along the bike trail. Your encouragement and support helped make the day safe, meaningful, and truly incredible for our East Eagles! 🦅

Our final East School Bike Bus ride of the year was a huge success with Mrs. Watterson and even our very own East Eagle joining the ride! From the excitement of students pedaling together to the cheers from our community along the route, Fridays in May were extra special!

A huge THANK YOU to Walt Lewis, the Mount Vernon Police Department, our East families, East staff, and the many community members who helped support and encourage our riders each week. Your energy, teamwork, and commitment helped make every Bike Bus ride safe, active, and full of smiles.

We loved seeing our Eagles build confidence, friendships, and healthy habits while having so much fun biking to school together. What an unforgettable way to celebrate the end of the school year! 💙🚴‍♀️ 🦅

Today was a special day at East Elementary as we welcomed back our graduating seniors! 🎓🦅

Our students loved hearing about the seniors’ future plans and memories of their elementary school days. The excitement and inspiration throughout the building was unforgettable as our students lined the halls for an all-school clap out to celebrate these amazing graduates.

Congratulations, Class of 2026! We know you will continue to soar high and make a difference wherever life takes you. Best wishes in all of your future endeavors and remember, you are forever an East Eagle! 🦅💙
