The City of Mount Vernon Summer Park Program will begin on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the Spirit of '76 Park.

Children who have completed Kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to participate.
📅 Program Dates: June 22 – July 16, 2026
🕘 Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

The Mount Vernon Golf Course will be closing at 3:00 p.m. to allow staff to complete important course maintenance and improvement work today, Thursday, June 4, 2026.

These maintenance activities are necessary to ensure the course remains in excellent condition and provides the best possible playing experience for our golfers throughout the season.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our team works to improve the course.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back once maintenance is complete.

From the desk of the Administrator:

The City of Mount Vernon would like to remind residents that the maintenance of roadside ditches located on private property within the city limits is the responsibility of the adjoining property owner. This includes keeping ditches free of debris, excessive vegetation, and other obstructions that may impede drainage.

The City is responsible for maintaining public infrastructure associated with the drainage system, including whistles (drainage pipes) and box culverts. If you notice a damaged, blocked, or malfunctioning whistle or box culvert, please contact City Hall so the issue can be evaluated and addressed.

Proper drainage is important to preventing flooding and protecting both public and private property. We appreciate your cooperation in helping keep Mount Vernon safe and well-maintained.

If you have questions or need to report a drainage infrastructure issue, please contact City Hall at (417) 466-2122.

PUBLIC NOTICE
Memorial Day Flower Removal

The City of Mount Vernon Cemetery Department will remove all Memorial Day flowers and decorations on June 8, 2026. This includes artificial flowers and any items not placed in permanent cemetery vases or planters.

Anyone wishing to keep these items is encouraged to remove them before June 8, 2026. Any remaining decorations will be discarded during the cemetery cleanup.
