NOW HIRING – Full-Time Laborer
The City of Mount Vernon is seeking a motivated individual to join our Parks and Recreation Department as a Full-Time Laborer.
This is an entry-level position that offers an excellent opportunity to build a career in Parks and Rec while serving your community.
Job Responsibilities Include:
Mowing, trimming, landscaping , and general grounds maintenance
Maintaining City parks, playgrounds athletic fields, trails, and recreational areas
Preparing athletic fields and facilities for games, leagues, tournaments, and special events
Assisting with setup and cleanup for Parks and Recreation programs and community events
Performing basic repairs and maintenance on park equipment, buildings, fences, and facilities
Operating mowers, hand tools, power equipment, and other maintenance equipment
Inspecting park areas and reporting safety or maintenance concerns
Assisting with seasonal projects, landscaping, snow and ice removal, and other department needs
Repairing and constructing sidewalks, concrete surfaces, and maintaining City streets
Assisting with water and sewer line repairs and installations
Providing courteous service to residents and visitors
Performing a variety of duties that help keep Mount Vernon safe, clean, and running efficiently
What We're Looking For:
Dependable and able to work independently or as part of a team
Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods
Ability or willingness to learn to operate maintenance equipment
Strong work ethic and attention to safety
Positive attitude and commitment to serving the community
Valid driver's license preferred/required
