Sad. The Community Corrections Justice Reinvestment Grant funding was cut $10 million in 2025 and $11 million in 2026 state wide. In 2026 every single Community Corrections agency in Indiana faced funding cuts, many of which drastically cut funding, or eliminated it completely, for treatment court and pretrial services. These programs help individuals receive treatment they need that they may not receive in jail or prison, they are able to remain present for their families, they are able to work and be productive members of society. Completely funding Community Corrections agencies and programs is drastically cheaper than the cost of incarceration. Eliminating these programs will result in more individuals being incarcerated in jails and prisons that are already overcrowded.

It has been brought to our attention that someone is making fraudulent calls acting as Community Corrections stating if they pay $1000, someone in jail will be released on Community Corrections. This is a scam. Posey County Community Corrections will never call requesting money in exchange for an inmates release to our program.

Posey County Community Corrections will be closed on Tuesday, May 5th, for primary election day.
