Good evening,
There is a potential that our area will feel the effects of tropical storm Debby in the next few days.
There is the possibility for heavy rain that can lead to flooding of roads and other areas. There is also the possibility of strong winds that can lead to power outages, trees down and wires down.
We would like to give some tips on getting prepared:
1- Have an evacuation plan made and let family, or a friend know where you will be going.
2- Have all your devices charged: cell phones, laptops, tablets etc. that way you can stay in contact if there would be power outage.
3- If you are out, and encounter a flooded roadway, "Turn Around Don't Drown", never drive into flood waters.
4- If you lose power, and you plan on using a portable generator, please follow the following:
A- Keep the generator at least 30 feet away from your home, never use a generator indoors or in partially enclosed spaces like a garage etc. this can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning which can be fatal.
B- Make sure to use heavy duty cords, or outdoor rated extension cords.
5- If you see a wire or wires down, do not approach them contact 911.
Please be safe and monitor TV for further weather developments and announcements.
